TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 16. Uzbekistan's wind farm produces electricity equal to monthly consumption of 155,908 households, Trend reports.

The 500 MW wind power plant is being built by Emirati Masdar company in the Tomdinsky district of Uzbekistan's Navoi region.

The first 100 MW of this power plant was commissioned in December 2023.

Moreover, the wind power plant generated 31.1 million kWh of electricity in a short period of time; saved 9.4 million cubic meters of natural gas; and prevented 13,000 tons of harmful gases from being emitted into the atmosphere.

This amount of electricity equals the monthly consumption of 155,908 households.

The next 200 MW of this wind farm will be commissioned by the end of this year and in 2025 will be launched at full design capacity.

Within the project, 4.7 MW turbines from Goldwind company (China) are being installed. Their height is 97 meters and the length of each blade is 77 meters. To date, 34 wind turbines have been installed.

A total of 111 wind turbines will be installed within the framework of this major project.

Meanwhile, Masdar company's total investment in Uzbekistan has reached $4 billion, with 1.4 GW of green energy from its projects now part of Uzbekistan's national power grid.

In 2023, Masdar signed investment agreements to build a large wind power plant (WPP) with a capacity of 2,000 MW and energy storage facilities with a capacity of 1,150 MW in Uzbekistan.
