( Irna ) - Iran's permanent mission to the United Nations has reacted to the claims of an American journal which had tried to justify Bush's unilateral policies against Iran.

In a letter to the Wall Street Journal, which was published in its Wednesday edition, the Iranian mission said, "The US, bowing to the pressure of Israel and its supporters in US has adopted an irrational stance on Iran."

It added, "US unilateral actions against certain military and financial institutions of Iran reflect the failure of US diplomacy to create a global consensus against Iran, due to the absence of any evidence" to corroborate America's accusations against the county.

Calling Washington's unilateral measures "a violation of international norms and principles," the letter added, "Such a threat is not only against the Iranian nation, but it is also against the whole world community."

" Iran, as a party to the Non-Proliferation Treaty, has a right to peaceful nuclear technology," added the letter.

It stressed that unlike Israel which had clandestinely stockpiled nuclear weapons and refused the slightest international monitoring of its nuclear facilities, " Iran has renounced nuclear weapons on moral and national security grounds and has put all of its nuclear facilities under the inspection regime of the International Atomic Energy Agency."
