Isfahan-Shiraz railway launched in Iran

The Isfahan-Shiraz railway was operated in Iran today, Iranian television reported. The first train moved from Shiraz to Teheran after the opening ceremony.

The length of the railway Isfahan - Shiraz is 560 km. The railway passes through the cities of Iran: Abad, Shahrrza, Aglid, Safashahr, Seadetabad and Marvadyasht. Some 4-7 million people will be transported by the railway in a year. Some $420 million was invested in the project.

The project will be extended to the city of Bushehr. The purpose of the construction is to connect railway from the Persian Gulf to the Caspian Sea.
