A section of a tunnel in a central part of the Iranian capital Tehran has collapsed, leaving five people injured, Iran's emergency services have reported, Press TV reported.
The collapse occurred at the junction of Navvab motorway and Kalhor street in central Tehran on Sunday, leaving a hole opened up from street level down to the tunnel.
According to a report by Fars news agency, following the collapse, a motorbike rider fell into the hole, but was later pulled out by rescue workers.
Eye witnesses said an operator in a mechanical shovel was inside the tunnel and that he has been buried under the debris.
Head of Tehran's emergency services Mohammad Dehqanpour told Fars that 4 of the injured were receiving medical treatment while the driver is yet to be rescued from the tunnel.
