The Iranian ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency said Friday that Iran would not implement the resolution adopted by the IAEA Board of Governors, Xinhua reported.
Following the adoption of the resolution, Ali Asghar Soltanieh told reporters the resolution was a "disappointing gesture" and was "politically" motivated. He said it "destroys" the constructive dialogue between Iran and the IAEA.
The resolution required Iran to "fully cooperate" with the international community to clarify all outstanding issues involving its nuclear program.
Soltanieh said no resolution or sanctions have prevented Iran from continuing its nuclear program for even "one second."
The ambassador said Iran has been engaged in cooperation with the IAEA, and thousands of inspections by the IAEA in the past six years have failed to show that the country's nuclear program has any military purposes.
U.S. Ambassador to the IAEA Glyn Davies told reporters the resolution "is a sign that the patient comes to an end."
