A prosecutor killed in Hoi was threatened by the Pejak terrorist group several days before his murder, Western Azerbaijan Iranian Province Chief Prosecutor Mohammed Muosavi was quoted as saying by the Mehr news agency.
Valiullah Haji Gulizade actively fought against counterrevolutionary groups in the country. He was likely murdered by Pejak as a result, Muosavi said. Several men opened fire on Gulizade in front of his home in a drive-by shooting.
An investigation is underway.
