First Vice-President Mohammad-Reza Rahimi said Thursday he is to submit a message from President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad, IRNA reported.
Rahimi made the remarks while speaking to reporters at the airport prior to his departure for Syria where he is to attend a session of Iran-Syria Joint High Commission.
Rahimi said during his stay in Damascus, a number of agreements on bilateral cooperation in various fields are to be signed by the officials of the two countries.
As for Tehran-Damascus ties, Rahimi opined that the two capitals were enjoying an excellent level of cooperation.
The Iranian first vice-president will be visiting Syria at the invitation of the country's Prime Minister Muhammad Naji al-Utri.
A number of Iranian experts and parliamentarians are accompany Rahimi in his visit to Syria.
The Iranian delegation is to hold separate meetings with senior officials of Syria.
