All forces in Lebanon welcome Iran's role in the country, Iranian President said.
"During a visit to Lebanon last month, we had discussions with all forces in Lebanon. They all appreciated Iran's role in this country," said President
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at a press conference broadcasted on Iranian TV (television IRIB).
The Iranian president made a visit to Lebanon in October. During the visit, the two countries signed 17 agreements. Nov. 28, Prime Minister of Lebanon Saad Hariri visited Tehran.
According to Ahmadinejad, during the visit, all forces in Lebanon said they are concerned and unhappy with the growing prestige and pressure of the West, particularly America, on Lebanon.
During Ahmadinejad's visit to Lebanon, Hezbollah and Amal movements made a joint statement. In the statement, they thanked Ahmadinejad for his visit and support for Lebanon. Iranian president's visit has been named in the statement as indicator of strengthening relations between the two countries.
During his two-day visit to Lebanon, Ahmadinejad met with Secretary General of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah. During the meeting, they discussed the results of the Iranian president's visit to Lebanon.
During the visit, which took place at the invitation of Lebanese President Michel Suleiman, Ahmadinejad met with top officials, political leaders of the country, with academics and university students, made a speech before the people in Beirut and southern Lebanon.
