According to a parliamentary approval, MPs must finally endorse the election of central bank governor after his election by the bank's general assembly.
The decision was made on Tuesday with 137 votes in favor and 73 against.
The ratification came after Gholam-Reza Mesbahi-Moqaddam, a cleric MP sitting on the Majlis Economic Commission, suggested that central bank governor must win a majority of parliamentary votes.
