Iranian FM does not allow Tehran mayor to visit Washington
The Iranian Foreign Ministry refused to allow Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf and his delegation to visit Washington.
Ghalibaf was due to visit Washington to receive the international award "Public Transport", the Iranian news agency FARS reported.
To receive the international award "Public Transport", Ghalibaf ordered the preparation of the delegation's visit to Washington, the Tehran Municipality said. But the Foreign Ministry has banned the visit. Tehran and four other cities in 2011 were selected as candidates for obtaining the international award "Public Transport". Award is presented by the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy.
The information does not indicate the reason for the ban on the Washington visit.
