Given the previous success of Ali Akbar Salehi, he is likely to receive the Iranian parliament's support for the position of the Foreign Minister, Iranian Parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Deputy Chairman Ismail Kovsari told Trend.
On Jan.23, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad proposed Salehi's candidacy to the post of Foreign Minister to the Parliament. On Sunday, Iran's parliament will vote on the appointment of Salehi as the Foreign Minister.
MPs are optimistic about his candidacy, and the Parliament's has a general positive opinion on Salehi, Kovsari told Trend over the telephone.
He said given the progress that Salehi has achieved at a time of chairing the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, there is no doubt that he is hardworking and enterprising person.
A month ago, Ahmadinejad dismissed Manouchehr Mottaki from the post of Foreign Minister and Salehi handed temporarily his powers.
Salehi was born in Iraq, but lived in Iran. He was educated in Beirut and the U.S.. He knows the Arabic and English languages.
During the presidency of Mohammad Khatami, Salehi worked as an official representative of Iran at the International Atomic Energy Agency. Since June 2009, he headed the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.
Kovsari believes that the former activity of Salehi in various positions was successful, so the probability of support for his candidacy is high.
