Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said the West's sanctions against Iran will have not impact the activities of Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi, IRNA reported.

He reiterated that the illegal and unilateral sanctions imposed by certain countries including the United States and the EU are wrong and futile.

Europe has included the names of a number of Iranian officials related to nuclear activities into a "blacklist" and imposed a ban on their entry into European countries.

Salehi was included in the list in connection with his previous position as the head of the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization.

On Sunday, Iran's parliament has given a vote of confidence to Ali Akbar Salehi, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's candidate for the post of foreign minister.

Of 243 lawmakers who attended the session, a total of 241 cast their vote. Salehi received a vote of confidence from 146 Iranian lawmakers while 60 voted against him and 35 abstained.
