Iran presents four new satellites

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attended the presentation ceremony of the Fajr, Rassad, Zafar and Amir Kabir satellites today.

The ceremony was held as a part of an aerospace exhibition that opened today.

Ahmadinejad noted achievements in the Iranian aerospace sector, including the creation of a remote satellite control station, a tracking systems and the Kavoshgar-4 satellite.

Iran successfully launched the Kaveshgyar-1 missile on Feb. 4, 2008, which was used to collect data and place the first national satellite into orbit. A presentation of the first Iranian satellite, Omid, was held on the same day. Tehran announced the successful test launch of the Messenger of Hope carrier on Aug. 17, 2008.

Iran is the eighth country in the world after Russia, the United States, France, China, India, Japan and Israel capable of launching space satellites.
