Azerbaijan, Baku, April 4 /Trend, T.Jafarov/
Joint statement by the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council takes a subversive character, the press secretary of the committee on foreign policy and national security of the Iranian Parliament, MP Kazim Jalali told Trend.
"This statement takes a subversive character and is nothing rather than an attempt to hide the real processes. The Persian Gulf states blame Iran instead of paying attention to the main culprits and the demands of the people. They have no reason and evidence for this," Jalali said.
Last week the committee on foreign policy and national security of Iran's Parliament issued a statement expressing its protest against Saudi Arabia and the UAE's sending military forces to Bahrain and warned of "possible" outcome of such actions. "Playing with fire is not in favor of Saudi Arabia," said the statement by the Iranian Parliament.
Gulf Arab states voiced deep concern on Sunday over what they called Iranian interference in their affairs after Iran objected to the dispatch of Saudi troops to Bahrain and a spying row raised tensions. A statement issued after a meeting of foreign ministers rejected Iran's "continuing interference" in the internal affairs of the six members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). "The (foreign affairs ministers meeting) severely condemned Iranian interference in the internal affairs of Bahrain which is in violation of international pacts," the statement said.
Jalali called on the members of the Gulf Cooperation Council to meet the requirements of its citizens. "We think that the Gulf countries must pay attention to the requirements of the people and try to execute them instead of blaming other countries," he said.
Jalili condemned the dispatch of Saudi troops to Bahrain and said that Iran will protest against such actions.
"The intervention of Saudi Arabia in the internal affairs of Bahrain and dispatch of military forces to this country is unacceptable, and Iran's protest against such action is natural. "Along with expanding relations with neighboring countries, we also condemn actions against Muslim and Arab countries and will continue to protest against them."
After the start of anti-government protests in Bahrain, its authorities have asked the member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council to send more forces to fight against protesters. After this, a number of countries, including Saudi Arabia, sent hundreds of troops to Bahrain.
Jalali said the issue that the neighboring countries adhere to the wrong position on Iran is caused by Israel and the U.S. "Iran has always been interested in establishing good relations with neighboring countries. Unfortunately, some countries influenced by the U.S. and Israel demonstrate wrong position on Iran and accused Iran of interfering in their internal affairs," said Jalali.
