Iran's Ministry of Science, Research and Technology seeks to establish universities for female students according to new plans for the separation of female and male students, IRIB reported quoting minister of Science, Research and Technology Kamran Daneshjoo as saying.

"The establishment of new universities doesn't cost anything," Daneshjoo said.

Daneshjoo repeatedly called for the establishment of separated universities in support of a plan by Ahmadinejad's government to segregate female and male students.

The government and parliament continues to discuss the segregation of male and female students at universities.

The Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has recently said plans to segregate male and female students at universities should be halted due to raising criticisms.

The segregation of female and male students occurred at the very beginning of Iran's Islamic Revolution in major universities however it has been stopped by the founder of the Islamic Revolution Imam Khomeini.
