Iran's Amirkabir University of Technology is working on12 major projects this year including a spacecraft for carrying live organisms to outer space, cyber defence and constructing a 150 passenger aircraft.
Alireza Rahaei, the president of Amirkabir University, said his institution has the lead role in seven projects and is a collaborator on the five others, Mehr news agency reports.
The university's Institute of Space Science and Technology has been given the project to design and build a 150 passenger airplane in cooperation with the Iran University of Science and Technology and the Isfahan University of Technology.
Mr. Rahei said another one of Amirkabir University's major projects is the spacecraft for transporting live organisms into space. There are also projects focusing on cyber defence being conducted at the university.
