Iran plans to export water and power services to Africa, South America

Iran is in talks with a number of African and South American countries for exporting water and power services, deputy energy minister for international affairs Esmaeil Mahsouli stated.

Esmaeil Mahsouli told the Mehr News Agency that developing renewable energy sources and building hydroelectric power plants are among the topics of negotiations with the South American countries.

He also said that different power projects are underway by Iranian engineers in Iraq, Syria, Oman and some other neighboring countries.

By the end of the Fifth Five-Year Economic Development Plan (2015), Iran will boost its electricity generation capacity by 25GW to reach 73GW, Energy Minister Majid Namjou said on February 7.

Iran currently trades power with Turkey, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iraq.
