Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri announced establishment of "soft war" headquarters across the country, Fars news agency reported.

"We are launching soft war headquarters in all provinces throughout the country," Jazayeri said, adding that "intelligent confrontation with the enemy is one of the main objectives of this move."

Jazayeri pointed to soft war as one of the most important topics of the day, and said, "different dimensions of soft war should be identified by the (domestic) media followed by tough action to repel and defuse such invasions."

"Soft war" is a term used by Iranian officials to refer to the cultural invasion and "soft intelligence" tactics used by foreign countries deemed hostile.

In January, Press TV quoted Jazayeri as saying the country has formed a body to counter the enemy's soft war tactics against the Islamic Republic.

"The base is tasked with policy-making in the state and military affairs to counter the soft war tactics of the enemies of the Islamic Republic in a more defined manner," he added.

Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has warned on many occasions against enemies' soft-war plots against Iran.

On August 2012, media outlets quoted chief commander of Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as saying the biggest threat to his country is a "soft war" launched by enemies to force the Islamic Republic to give up its nuclear program.
