The instability in Iraq could spread to other countries in the region, Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mohsen Pak Ayeen told Trend on Jan. 9.
"Iraqi prime minister Nouri al-Maliki tries to establish security and stability in the Iraq and eliminate terrorist groups," Pak Ayeen said. "Iran has announced its support for Iraqi government and will continue to do so."
The ambassador said that recently terrorist groups such as Daesh (or ISIS, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) attacked Iraqi city of Fallujah in Anbar province to cause instability in the country.
Iraq's prime minister has urged residents and tribes in Fallujah to drive out al-Qaeda-linked fighters to avoid an all-out battle in the besieged city.
Ambassador Pak Ayeen went on to say that Iraqi army should be supported by international community.
"Iraqi government was successful on establishing a democratic process in the country," he said, adding that Iraq's future looks bright.
He went on to say that the terrorist groups in Iraq should be separated from the Sunni citizens, since the majority of the Sunnis are against the extremist terrorist groups.
The ambassador said that the terrorist groups in Iraq are trying to damage the country's ties with Syria, adding that the world community should sound as a united voice against terrorism.
Pak Ayeen aalso expressed hope that the peace-loving countries of the world would express their support for the government of Iraq and its anti-terror operations.
