Strengthening Iran's nationwide intranet network doesn't mean cutting off global internet connection, the country's president, Hassan Rouhani said, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"We want people to have strong intranet network, alongside global internet," Rouhani said at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.

Also on the agenda is employment, domestic production and development of local knowledge-based companies, said the president.

Referring to the gasoline price reform which was implemented a few weeks ago, Rouhani said that at this time, the government has succeeded with this reform, which will help lower-income and middle-income classes.

“We were going to give credit cards to people to buy Iranian goods, but this implementation was delayed because of certain difficulties, and now cash is being deposited into people's accounts," he explained, referring to extra subsidies paid after hike in gas prices.

“Gasoline consumption has fallen by an average of 20 million liters a day in recent weeks,” he said. "This means we can increase gasoline exports."

"All the money saved from the gas price reform, which is about $7 billion, will be returned to people," Rouhani said.

On Nov. 15, 2019, in Iran, the price of gasoline sold on quota increased from 10,000 rials ($0.23) to 15,000 rials ($0.35) and the price of gasoline sold free from the quota increased to 30,000 rials ($0.71).
