BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 27. During the first two months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through May 20, 2024), 3,119 passenger cars were imported to Iran worth approximately $69.4 million, Trend reported this, according to the Customs Administration of Iran.
According to the information, passenger cars were imported by 10 Iranian companies during the mentioned period.
Mainly, Iran's Moin Motors Company imported 1,097 passenger cars worth $24.7 million, Kerman Motor Company imported 501 passenger cars worth $9.1 million, and Bahman Motor Company imported 254 passenger cars worth $5.12 million.
During the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024), Iran's passenger car imports amounted to 11,236 units worth approximately 224 million dollars. In the last Iranian year, the imports of passenger cars to Iran increased 16 times in terms of value and 27 times in terms of number compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).
To note, foreign currency is allocated by the Central Bank of Iran because a large amount of money is spent on the import of passenger cars. After the sale of passenger cars, these funds are returned to the Central Bank of Iran in rials.
