Kyrgyzstan, USA to ink new airbase agreement
(Kazakhstan today) - The USA and Kyrgyzstan will ink a new agreement on the Ganci air base stationing on the territory of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan Today correspondent reports citing Kyrgyz presidential press service.
"A decision has been made to complete the negotiating process on a number of issues related with the text of the new agreement on the further anti terrorist coalition stationing on the territory of Kyrgyzstan after 1 June, 2006," - a press release circulated today says, reports Trend.
As per the document the negotiating process on the Ganci air base "is actively progressing and the Kyrgyz side is interested in a constructive solution of this issue."
"The unstable situation in Afghanistan and the last events in South Kyrgyzstan show a necessity of intensifying our efforts in co-operation with the world community in combating terrorism, the real evil of the XXI century. The President of Kyrgyz Republic has more than once stated that Kyrgyzstan is actively supporting the efforts of the world community in combating terrorism and in relation with this it acknowledges an important contribution of the international antiterrorist coalition deployed at the Ganci base," - the statement says.
The talks on conditions of the Ganci air base stationing on the territory of Kyrgyzstan between the USA and Kyrgyzstan commenced yesterday, May 31, in Bishkek.
