Torrential Rain Contiues in Turkey, 11 Killed

(zaman) - Eleven people were killed in the southeastern Turkish city of Batman following flooding triggered by heavy rains, which hit the city on Wednesday evening.

Torrential rains have been continuing to grip Turkey for days, especially the southeastern part of the country. After 17 people were killed in floods in neighboring Diyarbakir in the last two days, 11 others died in Batman in the floods caused by downpour which paralyzed the city as of Wednesday evening, reports Trend.

On Tuesday, a minibus was swept away in floods in on Diyarbakir-Mardin main road near Cinar district of Diyarbakir following heavy rains, leaving 14 people dead. A woman and her two children were also downed in the flood in Cinar district, bringing the death toll to 17 for Diyarbakir, Governor Ala added.
