Palestinian Prime Minister departs for Tehran

(IRNA) - Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyah here Thursday departed for Tehran for an official visit.

Haniyah arrived in Damascus on Sunday night on the third leg of his regional tour. Earlier he visited Cairo and Doha, reports Trend.

Since he took office as the prime minister of Hamas government in the beginning of 2006, this is his first overseas trip.

During his stay in Syria, the Palestinian prime minister conferred with the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Vice President Farouk al-Shara, Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem and Prime Minister Mohammed Naji Otri on matters of mutual concern.

During the meetings, Syrian officials once more declared their support for the campaigns of the Palestinian nation, strengthening of national unity and elimination of international sanction imposed against Palestine.
