Iranian foreign minister in Astana to attend trade commission

(IRNA) - Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki arrived in Kazakhstan's capital Astana Thursday morning on a two-day visit to attend the 8th meeting of Iran-Kazakhstan joint economic commission, reports Trend.

Mottaki was welcomed at Astana International Airport by Kazakh Minister of Transports and Communications Serik Akhmetov.

While in Astana, the Iranian minister is to discuss major bilateral, regional and international developments with senior Kazakh officials including President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Foreign Minister Kasymzhomart Takayev, Parliament Speaker Oral Muhammedcanov and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bakhtykozha Izmukhambetov.

Prospects of Iran-Kazakhstan political and economic cooperation as well as major regional and international political and security developments are among main topics to be discussed in Mottaki's meetings with Kazakh officials.

Mottaki and Akhmetov are to co-chair the joint economic commission meeting.

The two are due to attend a joint press conference with domestic and foreign reporters in Astana at the end of the meeting.

Mottaki is scheduled to leave Astana for Tehran on Friday.
