Turkish parliament speaker leaves for Sudan for official visit

(Cihan) - Turkish Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc has left for Sudan for an official visit at the invitation of Sudanese National Assembly Speaker Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Tahir.

"Sudan is a friendly country with which we have strong ties based on a common history and cultural values", Arinc told reporters at Ankara Esenboga Airport prior to his departure for Sudan

Arinc will meet his Sudanese counterpart Al Tahir and his delegation to discuss ways "to enhance already close relations and cooperation". He will also hold talks with Sudanese President Omar al Bashir, FM Lam Akol Ajawin and other top officials during the visit.

Speaker Arinc and the accompanying delegation including Turkish MPs and parliament officials departed for Sudanese capital Khartoum at 9.05 a.m. Monday aboard a private plane, reports Trend.

A memorandum of understanding on reciprocal cooperation between the countries will be signed during the visit, which will be the first one at parliament speakers' level.
