Five countries share about 70% of Iran’s imports

Iran purchased 69.86 percent of its total imported goods in the first eleven months of 2014 from five countries - The United Arab Emirates, China, South Korea, India and Turkey, the Islamic Republic's Customs Administration said Jan. 2 in its latest monthly report.

Iran has imported 8.675 million metric tons of goods, worth $12.579 billion from the United Arab Emirates during the first eleven months of 2014.

The UAE exports to Iran witnessed an increase of 40.67 percent in terms of value. Meanwhile the volume of the Islamic Republic's imports from the UAE registered a 58.12 percent rise year on year.

Iran's imports from the UAE accounts for 24.83 percent of its total imports in terms of value.

The country also imported 4.974 million metric tons of goods worth $11.321 billion from China, which makes up 22.35 percent of Iran 's total imports' value.

Iran's imports from China witnessed 48.48 and 43.2 percent rise respectively in terms of value and volume in comparison with the first eleven months of 2013.

South Korea, India and Turkey respectively exported $3.932 billion, $3.928 billion, and $3.635 billion worth of goods to Tehran.

India and Turkey's exports value to Iran have increased by 16.15 percent and 16.22 percent respectively during the period, meanwhile the exports of South Korea to the country indicates a rise of 9.18 percent compared with the same period of preceding year.

While the volume of exports from South Korea to Iran has fallen by 16.57 percent, India's exports to the Islamic Republic increased by 28.35 percent in terms of volume. The volume of Turkey's exports to Iran has increased by 31.81 percent during the 11-month period.

Iran imported $50.665 billion worth of goods during the first eleven months of 2014, which indicates a rise by 21.85 percent, compared to the same period of the preceding year.

The Islamic Republic imported some 37.522 million metric tons of goods during that period which is 31.73 percent more compared to the first eleven months of 2013.

Iran's overall non-oil trade turn over stood at $81.877 billion during the 11-month period of 2014.
