Iranian companies implementing $6.5 B worth of energy projects abroad

Iranian companies are implementing various water and electricity sector projects, worth $6.5 billion around the world, Bahram Nezamolmaleki, an official with the Iranian Energy Ministry said.

Some 90 projects are now being implemented in 30 countries across the world by Iranian firms, Nezamolmaleki said, Iran 's Fars news agency reported June 18.

He also said that Iranian companies have undertaken 25 energy sector projects, worth over $660 million in Syria.

Early in March, Iran 's Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian said 236 projects, worth over $1.6 billion, have been implemented in 27 countries so far. Moreover, 90 other projects, worth over $2.4 billion, are being negotiated, he added.

Previously Mohammad Reza Ansari, director of the Association of Iranian Exporters of Technical and Engineering Services said the country has the potentiality to boost the worth of its annual technical-engineering exports to $25 billion over the course of five years.

The value of Iran 's annual technical-engineering exports stood at $2.9 billion during last fiscal year (ended March 20). Energy sector technical-engineering exports share 88 percent of the figure, according to Homayoun Haeri, an energy ministry official.
