By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran 's northwestern province of West Azerbaijan exports lobster to four European countries, said Mohammad Shirvaliloo, the director of the province's fishery department.
Currently, lobster is exported to France, Italy, Germany, and Armenia, Iran 's IRNA news agency quoted Shirvaliloo as saying June 22.
Some 52 metric tons of lobster are exported to the European countries per year, earning over 30 billion rials (about $900,000), he added.
Meanwhile, 400 metric tons of fish is exported annually to Iraq and Azerbaijan, he noted.
Iran exported some $310 million worth of seafood in the past Iranian fiscal year (ended March 20). The country's sea fishing and aquatic cultivation totaled 900,000 metric tons in the same period.
