On average, 89.4 MCM of gas was delivered to industries per day in the past Iranian fiscal year, ended on March 20, he said, Iran 's Shana news agency reported June 22.

Bahaee further said that Iran's industry consumed 32.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas in total during the last fiscal year.

Some 215 MCM of gas was supplied to power plants during the last day, a 51 MCM rise year on year, he noted.

Meanwhile, 137 MCM of gas was consumed by household, commercial, and small industries during the one-day period, compared with 134 MCM last year, the official said.

The mentioned sector's total gas consumption accounted for 173.78 billion cubic meters during the last fiscal year, he added.

Bahaee said the NIGC plans to increase gas supply to the country's thermal power plants by 7 billion cubic meters during the current fiscal year(to be ended March 2016).

Iran had delivered about 49 bcm of natural gas to power plants during last fiscal year, while this figure was 37 bcm in the previous fiscal year.

Power sector consumed about 28 percent of Iran 's total gas production last year, but the country wants to increase its gas feed to power plants to curb liquid fuel consumption in electricity generation sector.

According to a weekly report of Iran Energy Ministry, Iran delivered 14.146 billion cubic meters of natural gas to power plants from March 21 to June 12, which indicate a 17.7 percent increase year-to-year.
