Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 19
By Fatih Karimov - Trend:
Iran's Shazand refinery was shut down once again on September 17 for technical problems, Iran's Fars news agency reported.
On September 16, a laborer was killed for being hit by a lift truck and a trailer on the refinery's premises, raising the number of persons killed at the refinery to six over the past year.
It should be noted that the Shazand refinery has experienced various incidents in recent months. In May, at least five people were injured in a gas leakage incident at the refinery.
The refinery's RFCC unit went offline several times due to technical problems last year. During the downtime, the refinery's Euro 4 gasoline production was decreased by 8-9 million liters per day and was nearly halved.
Shazand is Iran's largest gasoline production unit, meeting euro-4 standards. It supplies gasoline to a number of big cities, like Tehran.
