Iran’s iron ore concentrate output up by 26%

Iran’s major state-run iron ore companies have produced about 32.59 million tons of iron ore concentrate during the last Iranian fiscal year (ended on March 20).

The figure indicates a 26-percent increase compared to the preceding year, the Islamic Republic’s Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) reported Apr. 19.

Gol Gohar Iron Ore Co. ranked first producing 12.551 million tons of iron ore concentrate followed by Chadormalou with 9.058 million tons of production.

Markazi (4.087 million tons), Middle East Mines Industries Development Holding Company (3.282 million tons), Gohar Zamin(1.923 million tons) and Sangan (1.687 million tons) were other leading iron ore concentrate producers.

The report did not include the volume of iron ore produced by private sector companies, which in total produce 14 million tons of iron ore annually in Iran.

Iran’s iron ore reserve stands at 5.1 billion tons, of which 2.8 billion tons are proven.
