Iran’s mineral imports fall, exports increase

Exports of Iran’s minerals and mineral industry products valued $4.78 billion during the first half of current fiscal year (March 20-Sept. 22), the country’s Industry, Mines and Trade Ministry announced.

The figure indicates a rise by 4 percent compared to the same period of preceding year.

The volume of the exports surpassed 34.617 million tons in the 6-month period, 8 percent more year-on-year, according to the report.

The products covers cement, ceramic and tiles, steel and iron products, all types of stones, copper, coal and coke as well as chromium, mica, nickel, precious metals, and aluminum, Molybdenum, titanium, lead and zinc production chain products.

The Islamic Republic also imported $1.972 billion worth of mineral industry products in the period, 2 percent more year-on-year.

However, the volume of the imports decreased by 10 percent to 2.685 million in the first half of the current fiscal year.

In the period, Iran’s total non-oil exports, which include gas condensate as well, stood at $20.544 billion, which indicates a 3.2 percent fall.
