Iran increases non-oil export, maintains positive trade balance

Iran’s trade balance stood at $365 million in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, started March 20, the country’s Customs Administration said July 3.

After closing the last fiscal year with a negative trade balance, Iran’s trade balance experiences third month of positive balance in the current fiscal year, however the figure has registered decreased compared to the first two months of the current fiscal year, when the trade balance accounted to $942 million.

Iran’s non-oil exports, including condensates witnessed an increase by 15.6 percent during the first quarter of the current fiscal year (March 20-June 21).

The customs administration said that the country’s non-oil exports, including gas condensate, reached $11.618 billion during the period.

The volume of the exported goods reached 27.9 million tons in the 3-month period.

The country includes gas condensate and some raw hydrocarbon products, like propane, butane, etc. in its non-oil export basket.

During the period, the country exported $1.558 billion worth of condensate, followed by liquefied propane (worth $534 million), light oils excluding gasoline ($409 million), film grade polyethylene ($306 million) and petroleum gases and liquefied hydrocarbons ( $304 million).

China was the main importer of the Iranian goods during the period. Iran’s non-oil exports to China registered a rise by 6.8 percent and stood at $2.245 billion.

The United Arab Emirates ($2.123 billion, increase of 43.57 percent), Iraq ($1.769 billion, 10.9 percent increase), Afghanistan ($788 million, increase by 21.95) and South Korea ($748 million, fall of 15.25 percent) were other top importers of Iranian non-oil goods during the first three months of Iranian fiscal year.
