Gold and gold coin prices dropped in the Tehran market on Oct. 17 and the reason for this is the decline in foreign currency prices, Tasnim News Agency reported citing the Chief of the Iranian Jewelers’ Association Mohammad Keshtiaray.

Transactions in the gold and gold coins market are in quite normal state and it has been a while that this market has gained relative stability, Keshtiaray said.

Presently, new gold coins are sold for 40.35 million Iranian rials (approx. $9,607) and old gold coins are sold for 40.15 million Iranian rials (approx. $9,559).

The price for one gram of 18K gold was 4,160,000 Iranian rials (approx. $990).
