An electronic system of medicinal plants will be used soon to increase the production and export of medicinal plants, Huseyn Zeynali, executor of the national project of medicinal plants of the Iranian Ministry of Agriculture, said.

The export of medicinal plants reached $300 million during eight months of this Iranian year (started on March 21, 2018), Zeynali added, Trend reports referring to IRNA.

Iran will become the first exporter of medicinal plants in the Middle East in the next two years if necessary structures are created because Iran has great potential in this area. A strategic program is required to implement this potential, Zeynali added.

According to the research in different regions of the country, each province has its own medicinal plants. For example, the Damask rose will be grown in Kashan, Fars and Kerman provinces, he said.

According to the program, the value chain will be created in each province. According to the research, 85 percent of medicinal plants used in Iran may be grown in the country, Zeynali said.
