Iran exports over 19,000 tons of dates within a month

In the first month of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), Iran exported over 19,000 tons of dates, according to to the statistics of the country's Customs Administration (IRICA), Trend reports via Mizan News Agency.

The amount of the date exports in monetary terms was over $16.9 million.

Iran mainly exported dates to Pakistan, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Austria, Australia, Spain, Italy, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Germany.

Meanwhile, Iran earned over $3.8 million from exporting dates to Pakistan only.

Although a decision had been made to ban date exports on the eve of Eid al-Adha (Festival of the Sacrifice), the ban was not implemented, but instead, tax was imposed on date exports. The tax was annulled on June 12.
