Karoon Oil & Gas Production Company in Ahvaz district of Iran’s Khuzestan province is implementing 30 environmental projects, said the company’s Managing Director Gholamreza Mofidi, Trend reports referring to the company’s website.
Mofidi said that about 8 trillion rials (about $190 million) will be spent on these projects.
“Karoon Oil & Gas Production Company has taken a number of steps to reduce the negative impact of the industrial waste on the environment,” the managing director noted.
Mofidi added that over the past seven months (March 21-October 22), flaring of 45,000 barrels of oil was prevented through implementing 24 technical operations.
The company official said that the emission of carbon dioxide (CO2) in large quantities into the atmosphere was also prevented.
The Karoon Oil & Gas Production Company is a subsidiary of the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC).
