TEHRAN, Iran, June 9

Trend:

Iran's Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian said that Iran is working to bring its electricity exports down to zero, Trend reports via ILNA.

Ardakanian said that Iran has reduced its electricity exports down due to high consumption in the country during summer.

"God forbid if the country's public electricity network is exposed to collapse, then we will be forced to face blackouts," he said.

He emphasized that the most of Iran's power plants, including the Bushehr power plant, have begun their production, after solving the existing problems.

With the early arrival of the hot season across Iran, once again the issue of electricity shortage and systematic power outages has come under the spotlight.

These days Iranians are left in the dark for several hours each day based on a pre-planned outage program implemented by the Energy Ministry.
