Trend:

The launch of refrigerator container shipment had a good result in Iran's maritime trade, said the Managing Director of Khazar Shipping Company.

"Both buyers and traders are content about cost and shipping time since the cargo safety has increased by refrigerator containers and the quality of the cargo would not decline," Davood Tafti told Trend in an interview.

"In shipping refrigerator container if the refrigerator is turned off an alarm goes on and immediately dealt with it but in road transport, truck drivers turn off the refrigerator to reduce fuel consumption that affect the cargo quality," he said.

Container shipment is part of Iran's maritime trade which is 5 percent of overall operations.

"Maritime trade has been definitely affected by coronavirus pandemic and especially in regard to food items. At the moment factories in red zones cities work with 30 to 50 percent capacities and this issue reduced production and export," Tafti added.

"The Coronavirus in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) have affected the trade and Iran trade stopped longer due to closure of ports because. Russia and Kazakhstan have implemented serious limitations in shipping and if one of the ship's crew is infected by COVID-19 the ship would be quarantined for three weeks," he noted.

Iran's maritime trade in the Caspian Sea during the first three months of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2021) from ports in the Caspian Sea was 500,000 tons that had increased 50 percent compared to the last Iranian year (started March 20, 2020) import has also increased.
