Iran's West Azerbaijan Province eyes to develop mine sector

TEHRAN, Iran, July 12

Trend:

Iran's West Azerbaijan Province has plans to develop the mine sector, deputy head of the West Azerbaijan Province's Industry, Mining and Trade Department Parisa Abedpour told Trend.

"In order to prevent raw sale of mineral materials and creating more added value for the West Azerbaijan Province, inactive mines would be activated and mine industry factories would become priority of the Industry, Mining and Trade Organization," Abedpour said.

"It is expected that basic material for mineral industry units would be supplied from the province to be processed," she said.

"The revival of mines was discussed during the recent meeting between the province representatives in the field of mining and the acting deputy minister of Mining, Trade and Industry," she said.

Abedpour said the necessary actions in this regard are expected.

"The ministry is also expected to pay special attention to reactivating industrial units that are required for mines, since some of the closed mines require basic material to establish their industrial units," she said.

She added that it is also expected that the closed mines would receive subsidies for import of machinery and equipment, according to their activity and extraction rate.

"It is necessary to develop mining infrastructure. Infrastructures such as access to power and water transmission should be provided for mining units," she said.
