Iran to open first section of Chabahar-Zahedan railway

TEHRAN, Iran, July 28

Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran announced the opening of the first section of the Chabahar-Zahedan Railway by July 29.

"One of the projects that will be inaugurated is the Yazd-Eghlid railway, which is part of the northeast-southwest corridor of the country and can connect the provinces of Fars to Yazd and Khorasan Razavi and from there to the Bafgh-Tabas road,” Khairullah Khademi explained the details of the projects, Trend reports citing ILNA.

He went on to say that the length of the Yazd-Eghlid railway is 271 km.

Referring to the value of this project, Khademi said that $333 million have been spent for the Yazd-Eghlid railway so far, but the current value of the project is estimated at $1.3 billion.

Khademi added that another project that has been completed is the Bustanabad-Tabriz railway, which can be used in the next 40 days.

Referring to the completion of the Khash-Zahedan railway, he noted that from the Chabahar-Zahedan national railway project, the construction of the Khash-Zahedan railway with a length of about 150 km has been completed.

Khademi went on to say that the special committees must confirm the safety of this route, and finally, the railway route will be put into operation within the next two months.

Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development announced that the Chabahar to Zahedan railway project will be completed by 2023.

Khademi stressed that the Sanandaj railway is also being completed stating that 40 kilometers of it remain, which will be complete in the next two months.
