TEHRAN, Iran, Aug. 30
Trend:
The issue of The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) does not need an intermediary country, said Iran Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Trend reports citing ISNA.
Saeed Khatibzadeh reacted to comments of Iraqi officials about the possible presence of Iraq as an intermediary between Iran and the US in JCPOA.
"The Vienna negotiations are between Iran and the 4+1 group, we do not have direct or indirect negotiation with America," he said in his press briefing.
"The current US government is stressing on previous failed policies, so far we have not seen any change in the US government's behavior, they should reconsider the impose of pressure against Iran, in that case, they could see Vienna negotiation would be in a good path," he indicated.
"It should be noted that Vienna negotiation is not intended to reach a new text but it is negotiation for ensuring the full implementation of the JCPOA by the US and that if America returns to all its commitments based on the JCPOA and the 2231 resolution, Iran will agree to comply to its commitment and halt its compensatory action," Khatibzadeh emphasized.
"All the remaining bodies in the JCPOA should be cautious that the coming days are important and they should be considerate about their positions and efforts in the international organizations such as the IAEA. Any action that would not be constructive would be harmful to Vienna negotiation and Iran would make decisions based on the behavior of other sides," he stressed.
"It is important to start the next round of Vienna negotiations by the cooperation of the 4+1 group," he noted.
Khatibzadeh has also referred to a recent phone conversation between Iran Foreign Minister Hussein Amir-Abdollahian and European High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell, saying the Vienna negotiation was one of the discussed issues.
