BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 16. No deal with respect to Iran’s nuclear program, Spokesman for US State Department Matthew Miller said during a briefing, Trend reports.
"The reports that there are a deal or some agreement or some other description – however you want to describe it – are not true," he stressed.
Miller added that it continues to be a top priority for the US to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
"We continue to believe diplomacy is the best path to achieve it. That has been our belief since the beginning of this administration. Unfortunately, the previous administration left the [Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action] JCPOA and allowed Iran to continue marching forward in pursuit of a nuclear weapon. We have tried to pursue diplomacy to constrain their efforts to acquire a nuclear weapon, but we have also made clear that all options remain on the table," he added.
Meanwhile, it was reported that the US and Iran have been having indirect talks recently, with mediation of such countries as Oman in regard with the JCPOA.
After the withdrawal of the US from the JCPOA in 2018, the Iranian side has repeatedly stated that no discussions with the US have been held, and will not be held if the US does not return to this plan.
