23 members of the Mojahedin Khalgh Organization (MKO) were killed in a rocket attack on Camp Liberty in Iraq's Baghdad.

The MKO is a dissident group outlawed by the Iranian government after the 1979 revolution. They have so far lodged in Iraq.

Hossein Abrishamchi, an infamous torturer of the pre-revolution period, was among the dead, Mehr news agency reported Oct. 30.

He was the group's mastermind responsible for killing six Iranians in heinous conditions.

Sources in Baghdad have said that the camp was hit by 15 rockets late Oct. 29. The MKO, on the other hand, claims 80 hit their premises.

The Iraqi sources said the rockets were launched from somewhere in Abugraib County.

The MKO moved to Camp Liberty after their base at Camp Ashraf was closed down.

Iraqi sources said at least three officers of the country's armed forces were also killed and 16 other wounded.

The MKO has carried out numerous terrorist attacks on civilians and government officials in Iran over the past three decades. Out of the nearly 17,000 Iranians killed in terrorist attacks since the victory of Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution, some 12,000 have fallen victim to the acts of terror carried out by the MKO.
