An unexpected summertime storm and heavy rain have struck the Iranian capital of Tehran and its suburbs, catching residents by surprise and causing traffic jams across the city, Press TV reported.
Combined with heavy rain and lightening, the strong winds battered the northern, northwestern and western parts of the capital on Sunday.
The fierce storm felled trees, brought down power cables and damaged buildings.
The storm brought winds blowing at 80 kilometers per hour.
Head of the Emergency Medical Service, Amin Saberi-Nia, told ISNA that there is still no report on possible casualties, adding that emergency teams, however, remain on alert.
