Armenia’s President is invited to Vietnam

Armenia's FM Edward Nalbandian, who is in Hanoi on an official visit, on Friday was received by Vietnam's President, Truong Tan Sang, News.am reported.

During the meting, Sang noted that Vietnam has a warm and friendly view toward Armenia and the Armenian people. "Many of our citizens were educated in Armenia, and the people of Vietnam are grateful to Armenia for its support. Today we underscore the development of relations with Armenia," the Vietnamese President said, MFA informs.

Also, the President of Vietnam reconfirmed his invitation extended to the President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan.

In his turn, Edward Nalbandian conveyed Armenian President's greetings and well wishes to his Vietnamese colleague, and informed that President Sargsyan has accepted the Vietnamese President's invitation.

Afterward, Vietnam's Head of State and Armenia's FM discussed the avenues for developing bilateral relations, and the integration processes in Asia. In this context, Vietnam's President noted that his country could become a gateway for Armenia toward Asia and the Pacific region.

On the same day, Edward Nalbandian visited the mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh, Founder of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and laid a wreath to the mausoleum. Nalbandian also paid his respects to the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for Vietnam's independence.

Also in Hanoi, Armenian FM met with his Vietnamese counterpart, Pham Binh Minh, during which they reflected on developing bilateral relations, and exchanged views on regional and international matters.

Examining Armenian-Vietnamese relations, Edward Nalbandian noted that thousands of Vietnamese, who had received education in Armenia during the Soviet era, and the Armenians who worked in Vietnam, connect the two countries and peoples to one another.

Both FMs expressed a view that the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries must become a breakthrough in developing mutual collaboration.

The Ministers also reached arrangement on expanding the legal and contractual field and cooperation, and supporting one another's candidacies within international organizations, and in developing tourism.

Also, Edward Nalbandian presented the main directions and priorities of Armenia's foreign policy, the steps toward cooperation and establishing security in the Caucasus, and the latest developments in the Karabakh peace process. In this context, Vietnam's FM expressed their support to the Karabakh conflict's peaceful settlement on the basis of International Law.

The Armenian and Vietnamese FMs also exchanged views on the events unrolling in the Middle East.

In Hanoi, Edward Nalbandian also paid a visit to the DiplomaticAcademy, where he delivered a presentation on Armenia's foreign policy and Armenian-Vietnamese relations.
