Georgia, Tbilisi / Тrend corr N. Kirtskhalia / Georgian President's decision to hold early presidential elections on 5 January 2008 and simultaneously to hold a plebiscite to define the time for parliamentary elections is historical, completely right and rather bold, David Darchiashvili , a Georgian expert, who is also the head of the Open Society - Georgia foundation, said to Trend.

On 8 November, Georgian President Mihkeil Saakashvili voiced his decision to hold early presidential elections.

"It is good that the President noted professionalism of the Speaker, which she showed in recent days," he said.

"As to the chances of the opposition in the elections, it will focus on human rights, and there are problems in that field. Within recent 3 or 4 years Georgia experienced terrible events, and once the President will right his regretting memories, but we still have to wait to see that," he said.
