Irakli Alasania cancels return to home country to meet with UN Secretary General
Georgia, Tbilisi, Dec. 19/ Trend , Kirtskhalia/ Irakli Alasania has canceled return to his home country till Jan. 22. Alasania said to reporters that he has canceled return to Georgia because of his planned meeting with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. The meeting is expected to take palace on Dec. 19.
"The meeting will focus on a difficult situation in our region, especially on issues related to new role of the UN in the resolution of the Abkhaz conflict," Alasania said.
It is noticeable that on Dec. 21 Alasania will turn 35, which enables him to run for presidency. Opposition intends to nominate him in pre-term election. However, the authorities are not going to hold it. Interesting enough, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will also celebrate his birthday on Dec. 21.
