Maya Sidamonidze becomes Head of Georgian Department of Tourism and Resorts

Maya Sidamonidze will become the head of the Georgian Department of Tourism and Resorts. The Minister of Economic and Sustainable Development Vera Kobalia said at a briefing held Aug.5 that Sidamonidze's project won the contest announced by the Ministry on the development of tourism

According to Kobalia, at the moment Maya Sidamonidze is in London. She will take up her duties in mid-August. Regarding criteria on which the winner  was selected, then, were Sidamonidze's appropriate education and experience in this field. Kobalia  said that Sidamonidze worked in the tourism sphere, both in Georgia and abroad.

"Sidamonidze gave exhaustive answers to all questions that distinguished her from other competitors. She has the right ideas and directions in connection with the tourism development, as well as her project doesn't require a great budget," Kobalia said.

The Ministry will conclude a one-year contract with the winner. According Kobalia, the committee selected two of the projects submitted to the Ministry, from which the winner was chosen. The Minister intends to offer the post to the author of the second project in Georgian Department of Tourism and Resorts, though Kobalia abstained from announcement of the name.
